Mommy isn't really feeling up to writing a blog right now, but really has no excuse especially since Daddy is tying up the TV with his video game playing (a subject to be continued later in this post!) Mommy had one of those days, a day that was filled with those moments of really what else could happen. A day that included two pieces of strawberry rhubarb pie, don't judge if you were in Mommy's shoes you might have eaten more!
The day started out fine enough with two very rambunctious babies jumping up in their cribs eager to get some breakfast and clean diapers. After breakfast, Mommy left the girls to play in their pen and went to go grab a quick shower before snack time. When Mommy went to change diapers and dress the girls she discovered that M had gotten her diaper halfway off and had blasted it full of the biggest poo ever. Poo everywhere, bath needed...eww! After hosing M down and cleaning off the changing table, Mommy moved on to C who also had a poo and blew out a little, luckily not enough to warrant a bath, but enough to make a mess of the other pair of PJ's! After Mommy got the girls setup with their snack and otherwise engaged, Mommy went to clean up the mess in their room and in the bathroom. Diapers were sprayed off as well as PJ's and put into the wash, changing pad cleaned, tub scrubbed and bleached. After a half hour of cleaning the girls were ready to get out of their high chairs and start running around, we call it free range time. This is when Mommy discovered that the dog peed on the floor, what?! Doggy was chastised and thrown outside, clean up ensued as well as baby dodging. Of course they wanted to get in on the cleaning action, so Mommy was stuck juggling the cleaning stuff and dragging babies out of the way. It wasn't long after when Mommy discovered that while cleaning the tub she had splashed bleach on her new shirt she had stupidly decided to wear today. Ugh...luckily nap time was quickly approaching and the babes went down easily after the small interruption of the power guy knocking on the door and ringing the door bell (Did he have to do both?) to say he was replacing the power meter and disrupting the power for a bit. After all the clocks were reset and the babies sound machine turned back on (twice), Mommy did get a little time to clean up the kitchen and dishes, followed closely by lunch and a well deserved piece of pie!
Funny story of the week has nothing to do with the little girls in the house, but with the little boy or Daddy as you readers know him. For Lent this year, Daddy gave up his video games, but a big loop hole in Lent is that Sundays don't count. So he could still get little fixes on Sundays if he had the time. On one of these loophole free days, Daddy's Xbox broke...a dreaded condition called the ring of death. Basically it was a system crash that had to be repaired. Luckily Daddy's warranty was still current so he was able to ship his system to Microsoft with little fuss. However once his precious gaming system was sent out the obsessive tracking began. Everyday Daddy would check to see where his Xbox was or it's repair status. A few weeks later, the Xbox was slated to arrive the same week that Daddy was leaving for a quick business trip and when Mommy was heading to Seaside with the babies. Oh woe! Luckily the system arrived after all were back at home. Mommy was eager to go grocery shopping as there was no food in the house and decided to go while the girls were eating lunch. Here is a dialogue of what happened;
Mommy: I'm going to go now, the girls' food is ready, can you feed them?
Daddy: When am I going to take a shower?
Mommy: After you put the girls down after lunch.
Daddy: What if my Xbox comes?!
Mommy: Fine, go take your shower now and I will get the feeding started.
(at this moment a big engine sound very similar to a UPS truck was heard behind the house, followed by Daddy scampering out of the bathroom still fully clothed...)
Daddy: UPS is coming! UPS is coming! UPS is coming!
Mommy: Yes, I heard the truck, you're such a geek!
(now Daddy runs to the front door and eagerly looks out the window, the UPS truck heads down the street)
Daddy: Aaawh! Nooooo!
Mommy: Great now you can go take you shower, I can sign for it if they come back down the street.
Daddy: Nooooo...I want to sign for it! (Daddy doesn't want to leave the door...at all!)
(now the UPS truck turns around and does deliver Daddy's Xbox, Daddy opened the door as soon as the guy got out of his truck. The UPS driver commented on how prompt Daddy was and this is when Mommy broke in and related the entire story you are reading. After the driver chuckled and departed, Daddy went to work opening up his treasured Xbox and not feeding the babies.)
Daddy: They sent me back a different consul so they could get it back to me faster...what that really means is that mine was toast and they had to replace it.
Mommy: Does it feel like they sent you a stranger back in the mail?
Daddy: Yeah it kind of does!
So after Daddy had inspected his Xbox he went and took a shower, Mommy put the girls down and left to go grocery shopping and leave Daddy to get to know his new Xbox! Boys!
The girls had a big week last week. M walked on the Sunday before last at Gigi's house, we were there during nap time while we were having an open house. Daddy was loading C in the car and M decided she would try walking between Gigi and Mommy. She managed four steps with a big grin and lots of giggles. Mommy yelled outside to Daddy that M was walking, which was met with a groan, of course she did. Luckily Gigi went out to the car and kept C company while M was glad to reenact her walking for Daddy! Cute! Mommy and the girls also packed up and went to Seaside for a few days to stay with friends in their timeshare. It was a great time, but M decided she didn't want to sleep...at all! The first night she didn't want to go down because she didn't want to share a pack n' play with her sister. After housekeeping brought up one of there pack n' plays M eventually went down after 10pm! Luckily she slept in the next day, but the next two mornings were a different story. First morning she woke up at 5:10am and didn't go back to sleep, waking up C and "cousin k" as well, who had to be sent out of the room to sleep with her mom and Ya Ya. Both M and C went down for little morning cat naps because they were so exhausted and cranky. The next morning M woke up at 4am and didn't go back down till 6am. Mommy was not happy! Besides the lack of sleep for all we had a really good time. The girls got to crawl around the hotel room and walk around all the furniture. C worked on her crawling so much she got blisters on top of her toes. They really enjoyed invading the kitchen, an area we leave off limits to them at home. We also got to go outside for frequent sea air walks which wore the girls out. On the day we were leaving C fell asleep in the stroller before we could get in the car! It was a lot of fun though. Mommy always stresses out about traveling alone with the babies, all the packing, the work, but it wasn't too bad except for M's sleeping problems in new places and the fact that we're going to need another pack n' play with no trunk space to put it in! Mommy had a lot of fun hanging out with her surrogate big sis, other mother and niece.
It took a couple of days for the girls to get back in the groove of things but kids are resilient and soon go back to normal. For Mommy, it took awhile longer! That's all for now, Mommy needs to go to bed, since the babies will be demanding their breakfast whether Mommy is ready for it or not!
Where did the second piece of pie come in? :)
ReplyDeleteAfter dinner! So my early slice was my bonus one!
ReplyDeleteMan, it was exhausting just to read that.
