Wow, it's been awhile since Mommy's been able to write! After a week at Nana and Poppa's, Mommy had a week to catch up and still feels like she is running behind! This last week Mommy has been very busy and nursing an injury to boot! Somehow she pulled a muscle in her back a couple of Saturday's ago while packing up all her baby stuff down at Nana and Papa's. A couple of visits to the chiropractor later it still isn't getting better, but the neck and upper back feel great! So Mommy will need to take it easy and not lift too much (HA!) Too bad the laundry doesn't do itself and the babies can't walk around yet! Hopefully Daddy's work will slow down a little bit and maybe he can take a little time off to help, but we'll see!
Last week was a busy week with a baby shower, wedding, trips to the vet for a sick kitty, picking up pottery and the babies pictures from their photo shoot. The pictures turned out pretty cute, now they just need to get up on the walls, hopefully Mommy will be feeling well enough to hobble around and get some frames from Ikea or Costco. The website that will be using the pictures should come out in a couple of weeks, Mommy will post a link! The sick kitty is fine, she gave everyone a little scare but it turned out to be a bladder infection, now Daddy gives her a dose of antibiotics every morning and evening, followed by lots of fur and kitty screaming. Sick kitty also got some special food which made the other kitty and puppy very jealous!
M and C got to show off their sweetness at a baby shower and a wedding this last weekend. The baby shower was held out in Hubbard which is outside of Canby, OR. It was really beautiful, lots of farms and nurseries, just a heck of a drive to get to. Mommy left a little late, big surprise and was running even later when they shut down Interstate 5 due to a major vehicle fire. Mommy and babies were only about 200 feet away from the car and stayed in the car due to all the fumes. A lot of other people got out of their cars and watched. Mommy made it to the shower with two very hungry, but luckily sleeping babies and passed C off to the Mommy-to-be to be fedwhile she fed M. The shower was really fun and M and C got to be held a lot and passed around which they always enjoy. Mommy made the Mommy and Daddy-to-be some onesies embroidered with a monkey on one and a little wiener dog on the other. It was an experiment to see how long it would take and how challenging it was. Mommy is hoping to make some crafty things to sell online on Etsy or at craft fairs and/or farmers markets. Everything is still in the works and she has to find the time! The wedding the whole family got to go to was outside of Dundee, OR almost to McMinnville. It was held on a farm/winery property and was awesome. Mommy and Daddy arrived a little late, again big surprise, but got to see the vows and kiss! The bride was one of Mommy's old coworkers. The food was great, the bride and groom were so happy, it was nice trip out. Luckily the girls were on their best behavior, but boy did Mommy and Daddy pay for it later that night! The girls were so tired, they both actually almost fell asleep while they were getting their baths! But they also had a few bouts of tired screams too!
In addition to all the running around the Menagerie has been doing, the girls have been doing all sorts of funny and cute things! Both are eating solid food, don't worry pictures will be included! While both are eating rice cereal, they just had bananas for the first time on Monday. M likes the bananas while C is not a big fan at all, taking after Mommy! M is rolling over now too and sometimes blows the occasional raspberry. She is also turning into quite a giggler! She loves to stick all sorts of things in her mouth, but favors fabric. She loves her bunny, bibs and anything she's wearing most. She started an annoying little habit down at Nana and Poppa's, by lifting up her legs and slamming her feet on the floor. When she was sleeping in her pack n' play, Mommy got woken up a lot! Now that she's at home it's much more muted in her room and crib. But you can hear her drumming her feet on the floor at all hours of the day, sounds like war drums! C has turned into a complete thumb sucker and won't take a pacifier at all! She loves to blow raspberries all the time, especially right after Mommy puts a big spoonful of rice cereal in her mouth! She also has a fascination with the tongue and is sticking it out all the time and licking things!
The girls are now 5 months, Mommy can hardly believe it! We're all looking forward to the Fall, but want all the tomatoes in the garden to ripen first! Hopefully we'll get enough to do some canning. Plus Mommy would like to do one more batch of jam this summer so Daddy will be set until next summer. Mommy is ready for some quiet time and not too much running around for this week! Today we've spent the whole day at home which was lovely! Mommy is also looking forward to attempting some scrap booking sometime soon, we'll see! We hope everyone is enjoying their summer! September will be here before we know it!
One last little tidbit, all the weak stomachs turn away, but little M just had her first post banana poo and it was scary! Luckily Mommy didn't freak out because Auntie K had already warned her that bananas did some strange things. Plus we know this is just the beginning!
I can't believe how big your girls are getting and how absolutely adorable they are. Sure wish we could get out to see them but afraid that won't be happening any time soon.
